This week not only are we featuring a really cool place to hang out, but we also have an exciting event to tell you about! Today we’re talking about Metro - a concert venue on North Clark Street where indie and alternative bands play. Operating on the philosophy to “act local, think global,” over the years Metro has hosted artists from Smashing Pumpkins to Fall Out Boy to Chance the Rapper in their early beginnings, offering new and emerging local and regional artists a place to perform and gain visibility. Though their first band to host in the nearly hundred year old venue was R.E.M., Metro has supported artists from every music genre to sweep the nation.

Metro’s next coolest venture? Hosting the RAW Artists show on Wednesday, August 10th! Like Metro, RAW showcases local talent in the areas of visual art, film, fashion design, performance art, hair and makeup artistry and photography. This year at RAW Chicago, Anastasia will be featured in the RAW Reveal fashion show, along with other amazing talent. At every RAW showcase, there is a screening of an independent film, a pop-up gallery featuring several independent visual artists and photographers, fashion shows from up-and-coming local designers, live musical performances, vendor booths featuring local artisans and accessories designers, and live performance art. Sounds like an awesome night, right? It definitely will be, and we are positive that you don’t want to miss it.
