Learn sewing and fashion design from Chicago's Best Fashion Designer - and Husqvarna Viking Sewing Machine Brand Ambassador - Anastasia Chatzka. Sewing classes are taught in our big sewing studio at 2041 W Carroll Ave in Chicago. There's free parking and it's easily accessible from I-290 near the United Center. It's the perfect place to make dresses. And friends.

Whether you're wanting to learn to use a sewing machine to hem pants, to sew a pattern, alter, upcycle, and tailor your wardrobe, or design your own garments, this is the place. You'll love our sewing classes, and you'll love all the new things you learn to do!

All supplies and materials are included in our regular sewing classes. There are no hidden fees. We just want to help you learn to sew and make the projects you want.

Learn all the basics in our most popular sewing class! You'll learn to use a sewing machine and serger to make all the basic stitches, attach zippers, buttons, and you'll learn to read a sewing pattern to sew clothes. No experience is necessary for our 101 classes, and don't feel bad if it's been a few years (or decades 😀), and want a refresher.

Sewing 101 is offered on Saturday mornings, Sunday mornings or Monday evenings. Class meets weekly for 6 weeks. Each week you'll take home a new item you've sewn!

Once you've taken a beginner sewing course, the world really opens up to you. A natural choice is Sewing 102, where you'll sew tops and bottoms. Yes! Sew your own clothes! Wearing an outfit you made yourself is amazing! And you can make matching outfits for loved ones.. very cute.

Become a fashion designer! 🤩 Learn to create your own designs and perfect their fit. Fashion design classes meet weekly for 6 weeks on Thursday nights.

Everyone starts with Flat Pattern Clothing Design where you make a "sloper" that fits your shape and size perfectly 🤗. Then you learn to manipulate patterns to create different styles while retaining fit.

From there, you can continue your Thursday night fun with Dressmaking, Pattern Drafting, Draping, Stretchy Design, or work on your own projects here in Open Studio. 

Our studio is the perfect place to work on your project. Bring in your projects, get Anastasia's expert guidance, take advantage of all the machines and cutting space, and maybe make some friends! It's sewww much better than trying to cut out patterns on the kitchen floor and getting stuck on some step with nobody to ask for help.

We love to see what projects everyone's working on. Some recent ones interesting ones include an upcycled Evel Knievel costume 🏍, a bespoke men's suit jacket 🤵, a 30 foot-long table cloth with finished holes all over 😵, and a designed-from-scratch blinged out prom dress 💎👗!
