Upcycled Holiday Stockings

Christmas 2022 is the year of upcycling! I decided to start my DIY holiday items earlier this year because I always feel like I’m rushing around last minute trying to figure out holiday decor & gifts. I know Halloween isn’t even here & I loath all the holiday pushing at stores. It takes longer to craft then just shop though, so I’m getting a head start on it this year! 

I love creating holiday stocking to put gifts in as a gift bag or to hang in the house & fill them with goodies for Christmas morning. I also love upcycling so I decided to merge the two. I was talking to a friend about creating upcycled stockings & he suggested using a flannel shirt. It was a no brainer that a red plaid stocking would be perfect. I also think a lovely brocade skirt or dress would be stunning made into a stocking as well.

I created a full sew along on YouTube where I take this flannel shirt & make it into a stocking. It turned out even better than I'd hoped. I think I'll make more! I kept elements of the shirt like the front pocket, the cuffs & the button placket as details on the stocking. These Christmas stockings are so easy to make that your going to be turning all of your flannels into gift bag stockings this holiday season!
