Apprenticeship
Apprenticeship Opportunities
Making it in fashion design is all about experience; the better your in-school/post-school internship the better your chances of landing a full-time job or earning a position within the company you intern with. Why leave Chicago to gain valuable industry experience? Personally, I prefer to use the term apprenticeships rather than internships. Because an apprenticeship is a system of training a new generation of practitioners a skill – and fashion design relies heavily on developing one’s skills. When I began taking on apprentices, I made it a priority to do everything to make the experience as valuable as possible. The harder you work, the more questions you ask, the more you learn, and the more skilled you become the more successful you will be. I had the opportunity to work in New York twice, but not everyone has the opportunity to move to New York for work or an internship. You don't need to intern in NYC or LA to land a job later in either city. In the past 5 years I have had interns go on to jobs in NYC, LA, start their own lines, and work for brands both big & small, and I have been known to hire from my own intern pool. I offer apprenticeships to both students for school credit as well as individuals simply looking to gain industry experience. There are two different areas one can gain experience, either in fashion design or fashion marketing/merchandising. When you're ready to begin the interview process please email anastasiachatzka@gmail.com and I will reply to you within 1-2 business days.
