On Our Radar: My Gold Mask is a local Chicago band that is getting a lot of buzz from their new album “Anxious Utopia”. My Gold Mask started as an experimental home recording project between married couple Gretta Rochelle and Jack Armando. This dark pop duo (now trio) features Gretta as the front woman, Jack on guitar, and in 2013 they added drummer James Andrew. Following their last album “Leave Me Midnight” in 2013, Anxious Utopia was released in March of 2016-It was well worth the wait. Anxious Utopia has a retro electronic feel with dreamy vocals from Gretta Rochelle. Each song is unique and really sucks you in, this twelve song album is really dynamic and just fun to listen to! On December 9th, My Gold Mask played their album release party at Empty Bottle. Anastasia is a huge fan and personal friends with My Gold Mask, she attended their release party and had a blast! They put on an amazing show, they are really high energy and just make you want to dance. We can’t wait to see what they have in store for us next.
